GTA 5 Cheats for PS4 and PS5: Full PlayStation Code List

Every GTA 5 cheat for PS4 and PS5 written out in PlayStation buttons (Circle, L1, Triangle...), plus DualSense tips and how the PS5 version handles cheats.

Quick answer

GTA 5 cheats on PS4 and PS5 are identical button combos entered during Story Mode gameplay using Cross, Circle, Triangle, Square, L1, R1, L2, R2 and the d-pad. For example, invincibility is Right, Cross, Right, Left, Right, R1, Right, Left, Cross, Triangle. You can also dial 1-999 numbers on the in-game phone. Cheats disable trophies for that session and don't work in GTA Online.

Key takeaways

  • PS4 and PS5 use exactly the same GTA 5 cheat codes.
  • Directions in every combo mean the d-pad, never the left stick.
  • The DualSense has the same button layout as the DualShock 4, so no remapping is needed.
  • Phone cheats work on both PS4 and PS5 and avoid the timing pressure of combos.
  • Any cheat disables trophies until you reload a save or restart the game.

How do GTA 5 cheats work on PS4 and PS5?

GTA 5 cheats on PS4 and PS5 are button combos you enter during Story Mode, using the four face buttons (Cross, Circle, Triangle, Square), the four shoulder buttons (L1, R1, L2, R2) and the d-pad. The PS4 and PS5 versions use exactly the same codes, and both also accept the 1-999 phone numbers. The original 2013 PS3 release uses the same combos too.

This page is written for PlayStation players specifically, so every code below is spelled out in PlayStation buttons. No translating from Xbox letters, no squinting at symbols. If you’re on Xbox, use the GTA 5 Xbox cheats page instead.

GTA 5 on PS3 vs PS4 vs PS5: what changed for cheats?

Version Released Button combos Phone cheats Returning-player vehicles
PS3 2013 Yes No No
PS4 2014 Yes Yes Yes
PS5 2022 Yes Yes Yes

The big jump was PS3 to PS4. The PS4 release added the in-game phone cheat numbers and the three returning-player vehicles (Duke O’Death, Kraken and Dodo), which have no button combo and can only be spawned by phone. The PS5 version, which arrived in March 2022, didn’t change any cheats. It added visual and performance options, but your codes are exactly the same.

If you upgraded from PS4 to PS5, you don’t have to relearn anything. Every code carries over.

Does the DualSense change anything for GTA 5 cheats?

No, and that’s a good thing. The DualSense has the same face buttons, shoulder buttons and d-pad layout as the DualShock 4, so every combo maps one-to-one. A few PS5-specific things are still worth knowing:

  • Adaptive triggers. L2 and R2 have more resistance on the DualSense in some games. When a combo includes L2 or R2, press them fully and deliberately so the input registers. Half-presses are an easy way to break a sequence.
  • The d-pad is the d-pad. The DualSense’s d-pad is a single rocker. Press directions cleanly; a diagonal press can register as the wrong direction or nothing at all.
  • Button remapping. If you’ve remapped buttons in the PS5’s accessibility settings, the game sees the remapped inputs. A remapped Cross will break every cheat containing Cross. Reset to default if codes mysteriously fail.
  • Touchpad and Create button. Neither is used in any GTA 5 cheat. Don’t hit the Create button mid-combo unless you want a screenshot of your failure.

What are the best GTA 5 cheats on PlayStation?

On a controller, short combos are your friends. These are the most useful codes with the fewest inputs:

  1. Fast Run (7 inputs): Triangle, Left, Right, Right, L2, L1, Square.
  2. Slow Motion (7 inputs): Triangle, Left, Right, Right, Square, R2, R1. Notice it starts the same way as Fast Run. Learn them as a pair.
  3. Change Weather (8 inputs): R2, Cross, L1, L1, L2, L2, L2, Square.
  4. Slidey Cars (8 inputs): Triangle, R1, R1, Left, R1, L1, R2, L1.
  5. Explosive Melee Attacks (9 inputs): Right, Left, Cross, Triangle, R1, Circle, Circle, Circle, L2.

For the codes that matter most in a pinch, like Lower Wanted Level or Max Health & Armor, the in-game phone is often easier than the combo. Pull up the phone with d-pad Up and dial. The full list is on GTA 5 phone cheats.

Do GTA 5 cheats disable trophies on PS4 and PS5?

Yes. Any cheat disables trophies for the current play session on both PS4 and PS5. It’s not permanent: reload a save or restart the game without cheating and trophies unlock again. If you’re chasing the platinum, keep a clean save slot and only cheat on a separate one.

PlayStation troubleshooting checklist

  • Used the stick? Directions are d-pad only.
  • Too slow? Enter the whole combo at a steady pace without stopping to check a guide.
  • In a mission or cutscene? Some missions block cheats. Try free roam.
  • Mixed up Square and Circle? It happens to everyone. Read the sequence out loud once before entering it.
  • In GTA Online? Cheats only work in Story Mode.
  • Remapped buttons? Reset PS5 accessibility mappings to default.

For a full troubleshooting walkthrough across every platform, see how to enter cheats in GTA 5. And if you play other GTA games on your PS5 too, the GTA cheats on PS5 and Xbox Series X guide covers the whole series on current-gen hardware.

Frequently asked questions

Are GTA 5 cheats the same on PS4 and PS5?

Yes. The PS5 version of GTA 5 uses the same button combos and phone numbers as the PS4 version. A code you learned on PS4 works unchanged on PS5.

What is the GTA 5 invincibility cheat on PS4 and PS5?

Enter Right, Cross, Right, Left, Right, R1, Right, Left, Cross, Triangle during gameplay, using the d-pad for the directions. You can also dial 1-999-724-654-5537 on the in-game phone. Invincibility lasts roughly five minutes.

Do GTA 5 cheats work on PS3?

Yes, the button combos work on the original PS3 version. The 1-999 phone cheats and the three returning-player vehicles came later with the PS4 release, so PS3 players rely on button combos.

Do cheats disable trophies on PS5 in GTA 5?

Yes. Using any cheat on PS4 or PS5 disables trophies for that play session. Reloading a save or restarting the game without cheats restores trophy eligibility.

Why won't GTA 5 cheats work on my DualSense?

Usually the directions were entered with the left stick instead of the d-pad, the combo was too slow, or a mission was blocking cheats. Also make sure you haven't remapped buttons in the PS5 accessibility settings, because the game reads the remapped input.
