How many vehicle cheats are in GTA 5?
GTA 5 has 14 vehicle cheats. Eleven of them have button combos on PlayStation and Xbox, and three (the Duke O’Death, the Kraken submarine and the Dodo seaplane) are returning-player bonuses you can only spawn by phone or PC console. Every vehicle cheat drops the vehicle right next to you, ready to drive, fly or dive.
The list is quirky. You get an armed attack helicopter, two proper sports cars, a stunt plane, and also a garbage truck and a golf cart. That’s very Rockstar. This guide covers every spawn, what each is actually good for, and where to call in aircraft without wedging a plane into a lamppost. What is each GTA 5 vehicle cheat best for?
Buzzard: the one you’ll actually use
The Buzzard is an armed attack helicopter, and it’s the best vehicle cheat in GTA 5 by a mile. It’s fast, it hovers precisely, and it can shoot back. Use it to:
- Cross the map from Paleto Bay to the docks in a minute or two.
- Shake a wanted level by putting distance and altitude between you and the cops (combine with Lower Wanted Level,
LAWYERUP). - Reach rooftops, mountain tops and awkward collectible spots.
- Win fights you have no business winning.
Series veterans may recognize the combo. Circle, Circle, L1, Circle, Circle, Circle, L1, L2, R1, Triangle, Circle, Triangle is the exact same sequence that spawns the Rhino tank in GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas. Rockstar swapped the tank for an attack chopper and kept the muscle memory.
Comet and Rapid GT: the sports cars
The Pfister Comet is a nimble sports car that handles well on city streets. The Dewbauchee Rapid GT is a grand tourer that feels planted at speed. Either is a big upgrade over whatever sedan you just stole. The Comet is the better pick for tight downtown corners; the Rapid GT is lovely on the long highway runs up the coast.
Sanchez: the off-road weapon
The Sanchez dirt bike is the right tool for Mount Chiliad, the Grand Senora Desert and anywhere the roads give up. It’s light, it climbs, and it survives jumps that would flatten a sports car. Pair it with Super Jump if you want to get silly on foot after you inevitably fall off.
PCJ-600: the street bike
The PCJ-600 is a sport bike that weaves through traffic better than any car spawn. Great for escaping on narrow streets, less great when you clip a bus. Bikes throw you off on impact, so think about Invincibility (PAINKILLER) if you’re planning stunts.
BMX: for stunts and laughs
Slow and fragile, but the BMX is the go-to for trick riding at the Vespucci skate areas and on staircases across the city. It’s also the funniest getaway vehicle you can spawn.
Caddy: the golf cart
Yes, it’s a golf cart. Spawn it at the Los Santos golf course for the full country-club fantasy, or use it in a wildly underpowered police chase for comedy.
Limo: the Vinewood entrance
A stretch limousine for rolling up to the Vinewood Hills in style. It’s long, it turns like a cruise ship, and it’s surprisingly good at shoving traffic out of the way.
Trashmaster: the battering ram
The garbage truck is heavy and slow, which is the point. It bulldozes through roadblocks and parked cars. Combine with Moon Gravity (FLOATER) and watch a garbage truck fly. Science.
Mallard stunt plane: aerobatics
The Mallard is a small, agile plane built for loops, rolls and flying under bridges. It’s the best cheat aircraft for pure fun flying.
Duster: the crop duster
The Duster is slow and stable, which makes it a forgiving plane to learn on. It’s right at home over the farm fields around Grapeseed and the Alamo Sea.
Duke O’Death: armored muscle
The Duke O’Death is an armored muscle car that soaks up damage far better than normal cars. It’s the best cheat spawn for surviving a police pile-up on the ground.
Kraken: underwater exploration
The Kraken is a submersible for exploring the seabed, wrecks and all. It’s only useful in water, so spawn it at the coast or a pier rather than in the middle of a city.
Dodo: the seaplane
The Dodo can take off from and land on water, which makes it the most flexible plane spawn for island-hopping along the coast and the Alamo Sea.
Where should you spawn aircraft in GTA 5?
Aircraft spawn right beside you, so space matters. A Buzzard in an alley is a very expensive way to explode.
- Los Santos International Airport. Huge, flat and empty. The best spot for every plane spawn.
- Sandy Shores Airfield. Trevor’s home turf, with a long runway and wide open desert around it.
- Big parking lots and open fields. Fine for the Buzzard, which only needs space for its rotors.
- Flat rooftops. Good for the Buzzard, risky for planes. Planes need a runway, and rooftops are short.
- Calm water for the Dodo and Kraken. The Dodo needs water or a runway; the Kraken needs water, full stop.
Tip: if you’re in a tight spot, use Skyfall (SKYFALL) to drop in from above and Give Parachute (SKYDIVE) to land somewhere open, then spawn your aircraft.
How do returning-player vehicles work?
The Duke O’Death, Kraken and Dodo arrived with the enhanced PS4 and Xbox One versions in 2014 as a reward for players who had played the original PS3 or Xbox 360 release. They are available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC versions.
There’s no button combo for any of them, so console players must use the phone. If one of these won’t spawn, the usual cause is the returning-player bonus not being unlocked on your copy, which historically involved a linked Rockstar account. Requirements have changed over the years, so check your account if the number does nothing.
What are the limits of GTA 5 vehicle cheats?
- No tank, no jet. GTA 5 has no military jet or tank spawn cheat. If that’s your kind of fun, the GTA San Andreas vehicle cheats are where Rhinos and Hydras live, and the Vice City vehicle cheats have their own tank.
- Not GTA Online. Spawn cheats only work in Story Mode.
- Trophies off. Any spawn disables trophies and achievements for the session.
- Missions may block them. Some story missions won’t let you spawn vehicles.
- Not a free garage. Cheat-spawned vehicles aren’t purchased or insured, so don’t expect the same treatment as a car you bought.
Best vehicle cheat combos
- Buzzard + Lower Wanted Level. The cleanest police escape in the game.
- Trashmaster + Moon Gravity. Flying garbage. Glorious.
- Mallard + Slow Motion. Barrel rolls in cinematic slow-mo.
- Sanchez + Slidey Cars. Slidey Cars hits traffic too, so the roads become chaos while you go off-road.
- Duke O’Death + Raise Wanted Level. Pick a fight with the city in the toughest car you can spawn.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best vehicle cheat in GTA 5?
The Buzzard attack helicopter is the best vehicle cheat in GTA 5. Enter BUZZOFF on PC or dial 1-999-289-9633, and you get a fast, armed helicopter that can cross the whole map in moments and fight back against police.
How do you spawn a car in GTA 5 with cheats?
Enter the vehicle's cheat during normal gameplay: the button combo on PlayStation or Xbox, the cheat word in the PC console opened with the tilde key, or the 1-999 phone number on the in-game phone. The vehicle appears right beside you, so stand somewhere with space.
How do you get the Duke O'Death, Kraken and Dodo in GTA 5?
These are returning-player vehicles with no button combo. Dial 1-999-3328-4227 for the Duke O'Death, 1-999-282-2537 for the Kraken and 1-999-398-4628 for the Dodo, or type DEATHCAR, BUBBLES or EXTINCT in the PC console. They are available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC versions.
Can you save cheat-spawned cars in GTA 5?
Results vary. A cheat-spawned car can be driven into a character's garage like any street vehicle, but it is not treated like a purchased vehicle and isn't insured. Don't rely on it surviving every situation a bought car would.
Is there a tank cheat in GTA 5?
No. Unlike GTA San Andreas, GTA 5 has no tank or jet spawn cheat. The closest you get to military hardware by cheat is the armed Buzzard helicopter and the armored Duke O'Death.
