GTA Cheat Finder: Search Every Code Across GTA 5, San Andreas, Vice City, IV & III

Search every GTA cheat code for GTA 5, San Andreas, Vice City, GTA IV and GTA III by name, effect or code. Switch platforms, filter, copy and save favourites.

Quick answer

The GTA Cheat Finder searches every single-player cheat for GTA 5, San Andreas, Vice City, GTA IV and GTA III in one place. Type a cheat name, an effect such as 'tank' or 'jetpack', or a code like HESOYAM, then switch between PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, PC and phone inputs. Filter by category, copy a code in one tap, and star favourites that stay saved in your browser.

Key takeaways

  • Search by cheat name, by effect (tank, weather, gravity) or by the code itself, such as HESOYAM or PAINKILLER.
  • The platform switch rewrites every combo for PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, PC or phone, so you never have to translate buttons yourself.
  • Category filters narrow results to health, weapons, wanted level, vehicles, player, weather, traffic, pedestrians or chaos.
  • Favourites are stored locally in your browser, with no account needed, and a share link sends a cheat straight to a friend.
  • Many combos are shared or nearly shared between games, so learning one game's cheats gives you a head start on the next.
  • Every cheat here is single-player only; none of them work in GTA Online.

How to use the GTA Cheat Finder

The GTA Cheat Finder is one search box for every single-player cheat in GTA 5, GTA San Andreas, GTA Vice City, GTA IV and GTA III. Instead of flipping between five cheat lists, you type what you want and the finder pulls matching cheats from all five games at once, with the right buttons for your platform.

Here is the fastest way to get a code on screen:

  1. Type into the search box. Search by cheat name (“Spawn Rhino Tank”), by effect (“tank”, “jetpack”, “gravity”, “fog”) or by the code itself (“HESOYAM”, “PANZER”, “PAINKILLER”).
  2. Pick your platform. Use the platform switch to choose PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, PC or Phone. Every combo in the list instantly rewrites itself for that controller.
  3. Narrow it down with a category. Tap a category filter such as Health & Armor, Weapons & Combat, Wanted Level, Vehicle Spawns, Player & Skills, Weather & Time, Traffic & Driving, Pedestrians, or Chaos & Fun.
  4. Copy the code. Hit the copy button to put the code or button sequence on your clipboard. That is handy for PC codes you want to paste into notes, or for sending a combo to a friend.
  5. Star your favourites. Tap the favourite star on any cheat you use a lot. Favourites are saved in your browser, so your shortlist is there next time you open the page on the same device.
  6. Share a cheat. Use the share option to send a specific cheat to someone else, which beats typing out twelve button presses in a group chat.

What does the platform switch actually change?

The platform switch translates the same cheat into the inputs your machine expects. GTA cheat combos were designed on the PlayStation pad, and the other controllers map one-to-one onto it:

PlayStation Xbox Switch (Definitive Edition)
Cross A B
Circle B A
Square X Y
Triangle Y X
L1 / R1 LB / RB L / R
L2 / R2 LT / RT ZL / ZR
D-pad D-pad D-pad

PC shows the typed code (for example HESOYAM in San Andreas or TURTLE in the GTA 5 console), and Phone shows the number to dial on the in-game phone in GTA 5 and GTA IV. Switch combos only appear for GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas, because those are the games available on Switch through GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition.

Why do some cheats only show a PC code or phone number?

Not every cheat exists on every input. GTA IV has no button combos at all; every cheat is a phone number such as 482-555-0100 for health, armor and a car repair, and those numbers work identically on every platform. A handful of Vice City cheats, like the character skins (LOOKLIKELANCE, MYSONISALAWYER) and CHICKSWITHGUNS, are PC-only. In GTA 5, the Duke O’Death, Kraken and Dodo are returning-player bonuses that only come as phone numbers or console commands. If a cheat looks blank on your platform, switch to Phone or PC to see how to trigger it.

Finding the right GTA cheat for what you want to do

Most people don’t search for a cheat; they search for an outcome. Use these effect searches as shortcuts.

You want to… Search for Best picks
Stop dying “health” or “invincibility” GTA 5 PAINKILLER, San Andreas BAGUVIX, San Andreas HESOYAM
Lose the cops “wanted” GTA 5 LAWYERUP, San Andreas AEZAKMI, Vice City LEAVEMEALONE
Get guns fast “weapons” GTA 5 TOOLUP, San Andreas UZUMYMW, GTA III GUNSGUNSGUNS
Get money “money” San Andreas HESOYAM ($250,000), GTA III IFIWEREARICHMAN ($250,000)
Fly “fly”, “jetpack”, “helicopter” San Andreas jetpack, San Andreas Hydra, GTA 5 Buzzard
Break physics “gravity”, “flying” GTA 5 FLOATER, Vice City COMEFLYWITHME, San Andreas RIPAZHA
Change the mood “weather”, “fog”, “rain” GTA 5 MAKEITRAIN, San Andreas Sandstorm, GTA III PEASOUP

A few things worth knowing before you go cheat shopping:

  • Vice City has no money cheat. If you search “money” you will only see San Andreas and GTA III results. Tommy has to earn it.
  • Some cheats stack. In GTA 5, the Slow Motion cheat can be entered three times for maximum effect, and Slow Motion Aim (DEADEYE) up to four. Lower Wanted Level removes one star per entry, so a five-star chase needs five entries.
  • Some cheats are risky. Cheats like Pedestrians Riot, Gang Members Everywhere and the San Andreas time-freeze codes can make missions misbehave if you save afterwards. Read our guide to cheats that can ruin a San Andreas save before you hit the save point.

Cross-game GTA cheat equivalents

Here is a detail most cheat lists never mention: Rockstar reused a lot of button combos between games. Search a cheat in the finder and compare results across games, and you will spot patterns that make memorising far easier.

The Rhino tank across every game

The Rhino tank is the classic cross-game search. Type “tank” and you get three results:

Game PlayStation PC
GTA III Circle ×6, R1, L2, L1, Triangle, Circle, Triangle GIVEUSATANK
Vice City Circle, Circle, L1, Circle, Circle, Circle, L1, L2, R1, Triangle, Circle, Triangle PANZER
San Andreas Circle, Circle, L1, Circle, Circle, Circle, L1, L2, R1, Triangle, Circle, Triangle AIWPRTON

Vice City and San Andreas share the exact same tank combo. GTA 5 has no tank cheat at all, but here is the fun part: GTA 5’s Spawn Buzzard combo (Circle, Circle, L1, Circle, Circle, Circle, L1, L2, R1, Triangle, Circle, Triangle) is identical to the Vice City and San Andreas Rhino. Rockstar swapped the tank for an attack helicopter and kept your muscle memory intact.

Other combos that carry over between games

  • GTA 5 Sanchez = San Andreas Hunter. Circle, Cross, L1, Circle, Circle, L1, Circle, R1, R2, L2, L1, L1 spawns a dirt bike in Los Santos and an attack helicopter in San Andreas.
  • GTA 5 Comet = Hotring Racer. R1, Circle, R2, Right, L1, L2, Cross, Cross, Square, R1 is the GTA 5 Comet and the Hotring Racer A in both Vice City and San Andreas.
  • GTA 5 Slidey Cars = San Andreas Perfect Handling. Triangle, R1, R1, Left, R1, L1, R2, L1 is the same input with opposite results: ice-rink tyres in GTA 5, glue-like grip in San Andreas.
  • GTA 5 Raise Wanted Level = San Andreas +2 stars. R1, R1, Circle, R2, Left, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right works in both. GTA 5’s Lower Wanted Level is the same opening with the direction pairs reversed (Right, Left, Right, Left, Right, Left).
  • Trashmaster. Circle, R1, Circle, R1, Left, Left, R1, L1, Circle, Right spawns a garbage truck in GTA 5, Vice City and San Andreas.
  • Vice City and San Andreas share many more, including Pink Traffic, Black Traffic, Flying Boats, Blow Up All Cars, Pedestrians Riot, Fat and Skinny protagonist, and the Faster Clock. GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas all use the same Faster Clock combo.
  • Flying cars changed in San Andreas. GTA III (CHITTYCHITTYBB) and Vice City (COMEFLYWITHME) share Right, R2, Circle, R1, L2, Down, L1, R1. San Andreas’s RIPAZHA uses a completely different combo.

The weather cheat pattern

Weather cheats are the clearest example of Rockstar’s cheat “grammar”. In Vice City and San Andreas, every weather combo starts with R2, Cross, L1, L1, L2, L2, L2 and only the eighth button changes:

Final button San Andreas Vice City
Down Sunny Very Sunny
Triangle Very Sunny Sunny
Square Overcast Overcast
Circle Rain Rain
Cross Fog Fog

Note that Down and Triangle are swapped between the two games. GTA 5’s MAKEITRAIN (which cycles through weather types) uses the same seven-button opening and ends on Square, the same input as the Vice City and San Andreas overcast cheat. GTA III uses its own prefix, L1, L2, R1, R2, R2, R1, L2, then Triangle for sunny, Square for cloudy, Circle for rain and Cross for fog. GTA IV handles it with a single phone number, 468-555-0100, that cycles the weather.

How to read cheat notation

Cheat lists use shorthand, and the finder shows full button icons, but here is the plain-English version so any combo you see online makes sense:

  • L1, R1, L2, R2 are the PlayStation shoulder buttons and triggers. On Xbox they are LB, RB, LT and RT; on Switch they are L, R, ZL and ZR.
  • Up, Down, Left, Right always mean the d-pad, never the analogue stick.
  • “Circle ×6” means press Circle six times in a row.
  • PC codes like HESOYAM are typed during gameplay in GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas with no prompt and no Enter key. In GTA 5 on PC, you open the cheat console with the tilde (~) key, type the word and press Enter.
  • Phone numbers like 1-999-887-853 are dialled on the in-game phone in GTA 5 and GTA IV. Our GTA 5 phone cheats guide covers that method in detail.

If a combo keeps failing, the usual culprit is speed or a stray press. Take it to the GTA Cheat Trainer and drill it until your thumbs know it, or read how to enter cheats in GTA 5 for platform-specific steps.

Tips for getting more out of the finder

  • Build a session shortlist. Before a play session, star the five or six cheats you’ll want: a health refill, a wanted-level clear, a weapon set and a vehicle. Your favourites list becomes a personal cheat sheet.
  • Search the code, not the name, when you half-remember it. Typing “AEZ” is faster than remembering whether it’s called Never Wanted or No Police.
  • Use categories to explore. Filter Chaos & Fun or Pedestrians and browse; that’s where the best surprises live, like San Andreas’s Elvis Is Everywhere. Our list of funny GTA cheats has the highlights.
  • Can’t decide? Let the Cheat Roulette pick one at random for you.

Do these cheats work online or affect saves?

Every cheat in this finder is for single-player only. GTA Online has no cheat codes, and Rockstar treats modifying the online game as grounds for a ban, so keep cheats in story mode. In GTA 5, using cheats disables trophies and achievements for that play session. In the older games, the bigger risk is saving after a world-altering cheat. Our guide on whether cheats disable saves in GTA breaks down the rules per game.

Frequently asked questions

What can I search for in the GTA Cheat Finder?

You can search by the cheat's name, by what it does, or by the code itself. Typing 'tank' finds every Rhino spawn, typing 'HESOYAM' finds San Andreas's health and money cheat, and typing 'rain' finds every weather cheat that sets rain.

Are my favourite cheats saved?

Yes. Favourites are saved in your browser's local storage on the device you are using. They are not tied to an account, so clearing your browser data or switching devices will start you with an empty list.

Does the finder show Switch button combos?

Yes, for the games that are on Switch through GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, which covers GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas. GTA 5 and GTA IV are not on Switch, so those games show PlayStation, Xbox, PC and phone inputs instead.

Why do some cheats have no button combo?

A few cheats only exist as PC codes or phone numbers. GTA IV uses phone numbers on every platform, some Vice City skin cheats are PC-only, and GTA 5's returning-player vehicles such as the Duke O'Death are phone and PC console only.

Will cheats from the finder work in GTA Online?

No. Every cheat in the finder is a single-player cheat. GTA Online has no cheat codes, and trying to modify the game online can get your account banned.
