GTA San Andreas cheats at a glance

GTA San Andreas cheats are hidden codes that change the game the moment you enter them: they hand you a jetpack, max out your weapon skills, kill the police response, turn traffic pink or let your car fly. Almost every San Andreas cheat works on every platform the game has appeared on, from the original PlayStation 2 release to The Definitive Edition. You just enter it differently depending on the system.

Which platforms does GTA San Andreas have cheats on?

San Andreas launched on PlayStation 2 in 2004, then came to PC and the original Xbox in 2005. Since then it has been re-released many times. Cheat support depends on the version:

The codes themselves are the same everywhere. Only the buttons change.

How do you enter GTA San Andreas cheats on each platform?

The golden rule on every platform: enter the code during gameplay, not in the pause menu or the map screen. You can be on foot or in a vehicle. If it worked, the game shows a “Cheat activated” message in the top corner.

PC

1. Load your save and get CJ moving in the world.
2. Type the code on your keyboard, for example HESOYAM.
3. Don’t press Enter, and don’t open anything first. There is no console.
4. Watch for “Cheat activated”.

PlayStation (PS2, PS4, PS5)

Press the sequence quickly, in order, using the d-pad for directions. Don’t touch the analog sticks while entering a code, and don’t pause. On PlayStation, HESOYAM is R1, R2, L1, Cross, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Right, Up.

Xbox

Xbox players use the same sequences translated to the Xbox pad: Cross becomes A, Circle becomes B, Square becomes X, Triangle becomes Y, L1/R1 become LB/RB and L2/R2 become LT/RT. So HESOYAM is RB, RT, LB, A, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Right, Up.

Nintendo Switch (Definitive Edition)

On Switch, Cross maps to B, Circle to A, Square to Y and Triangle to X, with L, R, ZL and ZR as the shoulders and triggers. HESOYAM becomes R, ZR, L, B, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Right, Up. Use the d-pad buttons, not the left stick.

A few notes on this list:

• HESOYAM is the Swiss Army knife. One code fixes your health, armor, your car and your bank balance. Our money cheat guide covers how far you can push it.
• BAGUVIX doesn’t make you truly invincible. Bullets, fists and crashes stop hurting, but falls, fire and explosions can still catch you in some situations.
• AEZAKMI stops the police caring about anything you do, but it won’t calm down gang members you’ve provoked.

What are the PC alternate codes in San Andreas?

Several San Andreas PC cheats have two working versions: a readable word and a scrambled string of letters. Both trigger the same effect on PC. The readable versions are much easier to remember, so use them if you can.

Some codes only exist as words, like PROFESSIONALKILLER (Hitman level for every weapon), NATURALTALENT (max vehicle skills), BUFFMEUP, KANGAROO and CJPHONEHOME. Others, like HESOYAM and AEZAKMI, only exist in scrambled form. Console players don’t need to care about any of this; the button sequence is the only version there.

To survive a brutal mission

• HESOYAM for an instant refill whenever you’re low.
• BAGUVIX for infinite health, remembering that falls and explosions can still be dangerous.
• CVWKXAM for infinite lung capacity on underwater sections.

To fight anything

• LXGIWYL, PROFESSIONALSKIT and UZUMYMW give the three weapon sets. Each set swaps out what’s in those weapon slots, so pick one and stick with it.
• FULLCLIP removes reloading and gives unlimited ammo.
• PROFESSIONALKILLER maxes every weapon skill, so CJ can dual-wield the guns that allow it.

To escape the cops

• AEZAKMI for never wanted.
• TURNDOWNTHEHEAT to wipe stars without staying immune.

To skip the grind

• NATURALTALENT maxes driving, flying, bike and cycling skills, handy before the flight school or bike missions.
• BUFFMEUP and KVGYZQK set CJ’s body without hours in the gym.

To get around fast

Which San Andreas cheats should you avoid mid-mission?

Most cheats are harmless toys. A handful can fail a mission or leave you stuck if you’re careless:

Also think twice about Suicide (SZCMAWO), which obviously fails whatever you’re doing, and the wanted-level raisers (OSRBLHH, BRINGITON), which are fun in free roam and miserable in the middle of a timed job.

Do cheats disable saving or achievements in San Andreas?

In the original releases, cheats don’t stop you saving, though the game’s stats menu keeps a record of cheat use. The Definitive Edition is stricter: using cheats can stop trophies or achievements from unlocking, so many players keep one clean save for unlocks and a second save for messing around. Quick tips for cheating in San Andreas without regret

1. Make a backup save first. Use a different save slot for your cheat sandbox.
2. Enter codes in a quiet spot. A missed button during a firefight wastes time.
3. Re-enter a code if nothing happens. Most failures are a skipped or doubled button.
4. Clear your wanted level before saving. It keeps your save tidy.
5. Remember it’s single player only. San Andreas codes have nothing to do with GTA Online, and you should never try to cheat or mod there.
