Do cheats disable saving in GTA?

No. No mainline GTA game stops you from saving because you used cheats. You can enter PAINKILLER in GTA 5, HESOYAM in San Andreas or PANZER in Vice City and still walk into a safehouse and save. That is the simple answer most people are searching for.

The longer answer is that cheats can affect two other things: your achievements and trophies, and the contents of your save file itself. Newer games mostly worry about the first. Older games mostly risk the second. Which one you need to care about depends entirely on which GTA you are playing.

The time-freeze cheats are the infamous ones. San Andreas has missions and activities that only open at certain hours, plus timed events that assume the clock is moving. Vice City’s cheats are mostly temporary: health, weapons, vehicle spawns and weather. A few deserve caution:

• Pedestrian behavior cheats like FIGHTFIGHTFIGHT (riot) and NOBODYLIKESME (everyone attacks you) can make missions chaotic, and some players report the effect sticking after saving.

• You can still save. The save itself is not locked or corrupted.
