Is There a GTA Vice City Money Cheat? (And How to Get Rich Instead)

There is no money cheat in GTA Vice City. Here is why, which cheats save you cash, and the fastest real ways to make money: assets, side jobs and more.

Quick answer

There is no money cheat in GTA Vice City on any platform, including the Definitive Edition. GTA III's IFIWEREARICHMAN and San Andreas's HESOYAM do not work in Vice City. To make money, buy properties and complete their missions so they become assets that generate income, do side jobs like Vigilante, Paramedic, Firefighter and Taxi Driver, rob stores, and finish rampages and unique stunt jumps.

Key takeaways

  • Vice City has no money cheat on PS2, Xbox, PC or the Definitive Edition.
  • Property assets such as the Print Works, Malibu Club and InterGlobal Films are Tommy's main income.
  • Side jobs pay cash and unlock permanent upgrades like infinite sprint and fireproofing.
  • Weapon and health cheats save you money indirectly by skipping Ammu-Nation and hospital costs.
  • Hidden packages unlock weapons at your safehouses; they are not a money source.

Is there a money cheat in GTA Vice City?

No. GTA Vice City has no money cheat on PlayStation 2, Xbox, PC or the 2021 Definitive Edition. It is the one game in the original 3D trilogy that never got one: GTA III before it has IFIWEREARICHMAN, and San Andreas after it has HESOYAM, each adding $250,000. Type either into Vice City and nothing happens.

So if you want Tommy rolling in cash, you have to earn it. The good news: Vice City is built around exactly that, and once your business empire is running, money stops being a problem. This guide covers why the cheat does not exist, which cheats save you money anyway, and the fastest legitimate ways to get rich.

Why there is no Vice City money cheat

Rockstar has never officially explained it, so we will not pretend to know the reason. What we can say is that money in Vice City is tied closely to the story. Tommy’s whole arc is about taking over the city’s businesses, and buying property is a core part of the game’s progression. A cheat that handed you unlimited cash would short-circuit that loop more than in GTA III, where money mostly buys guns. Whatever the reasoning, the result is the same: no code exists, and any website or video claiming to have a “secret” Vice City money cheat is wrong.

Cheats that save you money instead

There is no cheat that adds cash, but several cheats mean you never have to spend it. That is almost as good.

Instead of paying for… Use this cheat PC code
Ammu-Nation weapons Weapon Set 1, 2 or 3 THUGSTOOLS, PROFESSIONALTOOLS, NUTTERTOOLS
Body armor Full Armor PRECIOUSPROTECTION
Healing up (and hospital trips) Full Health ASPIRINE
Pay ‘n’ Spray to lose the cops Clear Wanted Level LEAVEMEALONE
Buying or stealing a fast car Vehicle spawns PANZER, GETTHEREFAST and more

On console, the button sequences for all of these are on our GTA Vice City cheats hub, and the spawn codes are in the Vice City vehicle cheats guide. Use them and nearly every dollar you earn can go straight into property.

How to make money in Vice City: assets

The biggest money-maker in Vice City is property. Once Tommy has enough cash and the story opens up, properties across the city are marked for sale. Buying one is step one. Most business properties then have their own set of missions; complete them and the property becomes an asset that generates income on its own.

How assets work

  1. Buy the property. Walk into the for-sale marker and pay the price.
  2. Complete its missions. Each business has its own short mission chain.
  3. Collect the income. Once the missions are done, the business earns money over time. Cash builds up at a pickup at the property, up to a maximum, so visit regularly to collect it.

This is passive income: it keeps adding up while you do other things. The earlier you set up your businesses, the more they pay you over the rest of the game. The story also expects you to build up this business empire before the final missions open, so you are going to do it anyway.

Income-generating businesses

These are the businesses that become income assets once you complete their missions:

Business What it is
The Print Works A printing business in Little Haiti that is really a counterfeiting operation
The Malibu Club The nightclub that becomes Tommy’s base of operations
InterGlobal Films A film studio on Prawn Island
Sunshine Autos A car showroom in Little Havana
Cherry Popper Ice Creams An ice cream factory with a very questionable sideline
Kaufman Cabs A taxi company
The Boatyard A boatyard in Viceport

We are deliberately not listing exact daily income figures here. Earnings vary by business, and the numbers that float around online are not always reliable. The useful rule of thumb: every asset you complete adds a steady trickle, and together they add up to more money than you will ever need.

Which assets first?

Prioritise businesses whose missions you can finish quickly and that unlock story progress. The Malibu Club and the Print Works are central to Tommy’s rise, so most players set those up early. After that, pick whichever mission chains you enjoy; the car showroom chain at Sunshine Autos is a favourite for players who like stealing cars.

Side jobs that pay cash

Side missions pay money for each level you complete, with the payout increasing as you go. Several also unlock permanent perks once you finish enough levels.

Side job How to start What you get
Vigilante Get in a police vehicle and start the mission Cash per level; finishing raises Tommy’s armor cap
Paramedic Get in an ambulance Cash per level; finishing gives infinite sprint
Firefighter Get in a fire truck Cash per level; finishing makes Tommy fireproof
Taxi Driver Get in a taxi Cash per fare; completing 100 fares upgrades taxis with a hop ability
Pizza Boy Get on a pizza delivery bike Cash per delivery; finishing raises Tommy’s health cap

Paramedic is the one to do early regardless of money, because infinite sprint makes the rest of the game much less tedious. Vigilante is a good earner if you are comfortable with firefights.

Other quick ways to make cash

  • Rob stores. Many shops in Vice City can be held up: aim a gun at the clerk and cash starts dropping. It earns money fast but also gives you a wanted level, so have an escape (or LEAVEMEALONE) ready.
  • Rampages. Rampage icons scattered around the city start timed challenges, and completing one pays a cash reward.
  • Unique Stunt Jumps. Clearing a unique stunt jump pays a cash bonus. A fast car helps; the Hotring Racer and Sabre Turbo spawns are ideal.
  • Races and story missions. Story missions are the backbone of your income in the early game, and several side races pay prize money too.

What does not make money

Hidden packages

Vice City has 100 hidden packages tucked around the map. They are worth collecting, but not for cash: every ten you find unlocks a new weapon pickup at your safehouses. That saves you trips to Ammu-Nation, but they will not fill your wallet. Treat them as an arsenal upgrade, not a money source.

Dying and getting busted

Getting wasted or busted costs you. You lose your weapons and some cash. If you are trying to save up for a property, play it safe, and use ASPIRINE and LEAVEMEALONE liberally. Those are cheats that pay for themselves.

What about trainers and mods?

On PC, third-party trainers and save editors can change Tommy’s money directly. They are not cheat codes; they modify the game, can break saves and are not supported by Rockstar. If you go that way, back up your save first. Our cheats vs mods vs trainers guide explains the difference and the risks. On consoles, there is no such option.

Money cheats in other GTA games

If you are hopping between games, here is where money cheats actually exist:

GTA San Andreas Yes: HESOYAM adds $250,000 plus health and armor

Frequently asked questions

What is the money cheat for GTA Vice City?

There isn't one. Vice City is the only game in the original 3D trilogy without a money cheat. Typing IFIWEREARICHMAN or HESOYAM does nothing in Vice City.

What is the fastest way to make money in Vice City?

Buying properties and completing their asset missions is the most reliable long-term source, because each asset keeps generating income you can collect. Early on, store robberies, side jobs and rampages provide quick cash to fund your first purchases.

Do hidden packages give money in Vice City?

Hidden packages are about weapons, not cash. Collecting them in batches of ten unlocks new weapon pickups at your safehouses, which saves you money on Ammu-Nation, but they are not a way to fill your wallet.

Does the Definitive Edition add a money cheat to Vice City?

No. The Definitive Edition kept Vice City's original cheat list, which has no money code. Cash still comes from missions, assets and side activities.

Is there a money cheat in other GTA games?

Yes. GTA III has IFIWEREARICHMAN and San Andreas has HESOYAM, each of which adds $250,000. GTA IV and GTA V have no money cheats.
